Ratheesh was born and raised in Kerala. After high school, Rateesh joined the Shivagiri Ashram in Varkala, Kerala. Where he explored his inner spirit through the study of Veda Yoga, taken from the four collections of the earliest body of Indian scriptures, which formed the basis of classical Hinduism (composed between 1500 & 700BC). There he was taught by a great Sanyasi.
After studying for 5 years and completing the Vedanta course in Kerala, he travelled towards the northern part of India barefoot, walking 45 days to reach Rishikesh; meditating in the caves and meeting with different Sanyasis from all over India.
Once in Rishikesh he came to understand the importance of Yoga in daily life. He decided to commence an in-depth study of Yoga, pranayama and meditation. While searching for the right place for real Yoga, he found his Guru in Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama at his Ashram on the banks of the Holy Ganga River in Rishikesh.
He continued studying for 6 years with Sadhaka Grama and received Naishtika Brahmacharya (celibacy in thought, word and deed) from his Guru. This oath dedicated his life as a saint for 5 years, after which his guru instructed him to get married in Kerala.
